First Place: Pulp and Paper Pollution Prevention Program (Michigan, state-wide)
The First place MVP2 Award was awarded to the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality and the Michigan Pulp & Paper Environmental Council for their Pulp and Paper Pollution Prevention Program (P5). Second Place: Albertson's, Inc. (USA, nationwide)
Albertson's, Inc.'s new Modular Produce Box won the second place award. Albertson's, one of the largest retail food and drug chains in the United States, spearheaded the development of a standard display-ready produce box that was unwaxed and modular, which not only allows reuse of cardboard materials and solid waste, but also allows produce to be shipped without ice, which uses less energy and drastically reduces stormwater runoff. https://progressivegrocer.com/acme-recognized-developing-produce-boxes
Third Place: United States Postal Service (USA, nationwide)
The third place award winner is the United States Postal Service for its innovative Reusable Mail Transport Container. This “Smartbox” is made predominantly of recyclable materials, and has led to the avoidance of 5.22 large corrugated containers per week as well as the reduction of 340 pounds of carcinogens and 720 pounds of toxicants.
PBT-Cup Award: Morton Powder Coatings (Reading, PA)
Morton Powder Coatings won the 2000 PBT-Cup for the reduction of cadmium from their operations.
